Bridal Beauty Predictions 2019

Last October I was interviewed for a Scenic City Weddings article and gave a few predictions for 2019 bridal trends. Not all of my predictions were featured in the article, so I’m sharing them here!

What are some of the beauty trends you expect to see on brides in 2019?

In 2019 I expect to see more of the loose, boho hair. If not boho, more of a “red carpet” vibe than “princess.” Even if it’s a classic style, I find brides wanting it to look more effortless. Pulling out some pieces to frame the face really helps modernize any hairstyle without making it too trendy.

I love the direction bridal makeup trends are headed with an emphasis on lashes or a bold lip with a bright, fresh face! I think you can be more daring with your nail color. Neutrals are always a safe bet even if it’s a darker color like black. I love a good jewel tone to complement your color scheme!

Where are today’s brides looking for beauty inspiration from?

Most brides show me inspiration from Pinterest or Instagram - it’s a great place to see what past brides have chosen for their own wedding and the dreamy styled shoots that vendors have put together. If you don’t have a Pinterest board, I highly recommend one for collecting and organizing not just beauty inspiration, but inspo for your whole wedding!

Do you have any advice for choosing a bridal beauty look? What factors should brides take into consideration?

I’m a big advocate for timeless over trendy. With that being said, you should choose a look that makes you happy. Choose what you like now. Don’t worry so much about your photos looking dated that you don’t choose hair and makeup that makes you feel beautiful and confident. Always discuss the weather and what implications the wind, heat, or rain may have on your look with your stylist.

Are there any common wedding beauty mistakes brides should avoid?

Taking care of your hair and skin can go a long way! Don’t wait until a month before your wedding date to start your new skin routine or try bangs. I always highly recommend a trial run! Whether you’re handling your own day-of beauty routine or you’ve hired a pro, have a practice round to make sure it’s what you really want. Don’t be afraid to go with a different artist if your look wasn’t what you wanted it to be or if they seemed like they may not be a good fit. And again - timeless over trendy!
